    Move in

Time to leave your old mess and move into the new structure!

This will take a little effort, but it will be worth it. You need to go through your stuff and find a home for it in your new system.

Use it as an opportunity to review everything and clean up any junk. Focus on the end result – it's going to feel great.

    Inbox and Archive

There are folders to help you do this. Within each category, you'll find the standard zero folders:

    .01 Inbox for category …

    • A great place to put stuff that you're going to organise soon.

    .09 Archive for category …

    • If you don't ever plan on organising it, but don't want to throw it away, put it here.
    • But seriously … maybe throw it away? Johhny.Decimal isn't about digital hoarding. It's about being neat and tidy.

    Area-level inboxes

Note: The default settings don't download the area-level inboxes because they make the system feel a little 'busy'. We recommend using the category-level inboxes as described above.

If you can't decide which category it should go in, you can use the area-level zeros instead. For example, 10.01 Inbox for area ….

    System-level inboxes

And if you can't even decide which area it should go in, use the system-level zeros at 00.01 Inbox for system …. But be careful: things are easy to forget here.
