We're calling it 'small business', but designing it to suit any sort of small-to-medium enterprise. Think your local beer brewing club, or the kids' kindergarten that you got roped in to being the President of.1

And, of course, small businesses of all shapes and sizes. From 1 to about 50 employees, whatever you do: you might own a food truck, be an accountant, have a shop, be a masseuse, an architect, a landscaper...

More than a folder structure

The 'life admin' pack is a folder structure and a set of files to create your JDex. That works to manage your day-to-day life, but in business you need more.

We know: Lucy and I have both been small business people forever.2 We've been contractors, freelancers, and registered business owners. We learned this the hard way.

So 'small business' will be:

  • The folder structure, hand-crafted by us.

  • JDex files, full of usage tips and guidance.

  • Your business operations manual.

    • We all do the same basic stuff, and we keep re-inventing it. You don't have time for that.3

  • A private community of your peers. With a common system, we can all help each other.

    • Channels will be structured around the system. Ask targeted questions and get answers from experts.

    • As this knowledge builds over time, we will extract it and present it as part of the system.

    • So you're never searching for past knowledge: it's neatly indexed and presented for you.
