# Mitsu-bishi 9852

> Pencil + orange = heaven.

We all know I'm a [sucker](/blog/0018-defaults/#pencil) for a [good pencil](/22.00.0033/), and an orange hue. So when I walked past this beauty in Morioka's [FES”AN](https://fesan-jp.com/en/) (sic.) the other day, I was helpless.

I realise, for someone travelling with a single tiny bag, that I'm now over-pencilled. I have this, a 9850, another Mitsubishi 'Uni' whose exact model I can't track down but it's the [blue one from this image](https://brandnamepencils.com/wp-content/uploads/2020/02/uni_red_blue-1400x221.png), and 1.5 Blackwing Pearls, the smaller of which I just discovered Blu-Tacked in to the back of a notebook.

Given that you can buy a pencil literally anywhere, I might not have needed to bring that many with me.

## Mitsubishi

Interestingly, the [Mitsubishi Pencil Company](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Uni-ball) has no relation to the broader Mitsubishi Group. It's a name I gravitate towards; I'm pretty sure I viewed my [Sinclair ZX Spectrum+](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N3dhzRgaybM) through a late-1980s Mitsubishi TV set.
